CSV import guide · Anvil 2.1.2

Use Data & Settings → Import trades. Choose your file, account and timezone, then review the preview before importing. All processing stays on your device.

Start here

  1. Export the report listed below. A chart export or order list may lack completed-trade P&L.
  2. Use the timezone of the report. Fixed UTC offsets must match the dates being imported; a daylight-saving change may require separate files or explicit offsets.
  3. Open Platform export settings. Confirm US month/day/year dates when applicable and choose the required commission settings.
  4. Check the first 10 rows shown in the preview: dates, direction, quantity, asset class, P&L, fees and prices. Warnings describe skipped or unmatched rows.

Keep a backup before importing a large history. Re-importing recognized platform IDs skips existing trades; it does not update or repair prior imports.

Tradovate

Use the Performance CSV containing buy and sell fill IDs, prices and timestamps. Anvil determines long/short from the order of the fills and uses the closing timestamp for the journal date.

This report does not supply separate fees. P&L is retained as exported; confirm its fee treatment against your account statement. Equal buy/sell timestamps are rejected because direction is uncertain.

Recognized columnssymbol, qty, pnl, buyFillId, buyPrice, boughtTimestamp, sellFillId, sellPrice, soldTimestamp

NinjaTrader

Use Trade Performance Trades, with Profit displayed in currency. Choose whether Profit is gross or already net of commissions, based on the report settings, and confirm currency values. Do not export points, ticks or percentages.

Anvil keeps entry and exit prices, uses the exit timestamp, and deducts the Commission column only when you choose gross P&L.

TradeStation

The recognized transaction CSV can be matched using FIFO only when the export begins with no open positions and includes every fill since. Confirm that condition in the import settings. Use that same complete starting history for later exports.

Each matched opening/closing allocation becomes one journal row; partial fills can therefore affect trade-count statistics. Unmatched open lots are reported and omitted. Quantity stays in exported units, which may be underlying units for options. Currency must match your journal; cash amounts must reconcile with price, quantity and commission.

Recognized columnsAccount Number, Transaction, Quantity, Symbol, Price, Amount, Commission, Activity Date, Activity Time, Order ID, CurrencyCode

TradingView

The importer supports the recognized English Account History closed-position layout, with Time, Balance Before, Balance After, Realized P&L and an Action describing the symbol, direction, quantity, exit price and average entry price.

Order history, chart CSVs, strategy reports and other broker-specific layouts are different. They are not covered by this adapter. Use the completed-trade template if your layout differs. The supported account-history layout supplies closing time only.

Another platform or report?

Download the CSV template from Data & Settings. Each row needs a date, symbol, side, quantity and completed-trade P&L. Time, fees, entry/exit prices, account, asset class and notes can also be included. A file containing orders or executions may require trade matching before it can use this template.

Validation used public example files and constructed edge cases, not exports from every account type or platform version. If Anvil rejects your file, the message explains the missing information. For help, contact feedback@anviljournal.com.
